San Nicola is from Parma like\u2026 the Gruppo del Sileno<\/a><\/strong><\/p><\/h1><\/div>

La statua, realizzata in marmo di Carrara, fu realizzata nel 1765 per volere del Duca Filippo di Borbone che intendeva risistemare il Giardino Ducale.<\/p>\n

The sculpture is inspired by a myth by Virgil: two young shepherds find Silenus sleeping in a cave and tie him up with garlands and flowers to force him to sing… the nymph Egle notices what is happening and joins the two shepherds. Silenus, who is in love with her, agrees to sing in exchange for his freedom, and even the animals around them begin to dance when they hear the melody.<\/p>\n

The work is placed on a circular base and at the top of the relief stands the protagonist of the story, Silenus, who holds the nymph Egle in his arms, while around him are two young shepherds, a goat and a faun.<\/p>\n

The Arcadian themes of the opera were chosen to celebrate the return of the Bourbon Duchy, with the hope of bringing peace and stability.<\/p><\/h2><\/span>
