San Nicola is from Parma as….the Statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi.

In 1893 Parma’s main square was dedicated to Giuseppe Garibaldi and a monument of the same name was erected, which stands in the center.

In its place before was the Ara Amicitiae, a monument symbolizing the alliance between Parma and Austria.

Garibaldi is depicted standing proudly with his cap on his head and poncho over his shoulders while holding his hands resting on the hilt of his sword and his right foot forward.

The statue was made of bronze while the plinth is made of pink granite where a plaque was affixed with the inscription in his memory “To Giuseppe Garibaldi MDCCCXXXIII.”
