San Nicola is from Parma like… the Monumento a Filippo Corridoni
The Monument to Filippo Corridoni is located in the square of the same name at the beginning of Via D’Azeglio.
The statue, designed by architect Mario Monguidi, was inaugurated in 1927 and depicts the First World War hero Filippo Corridoni.
It is located in a crucial area of Parma where several bus routes converge, taking students to Parma’s secondary schools, so the monument is seen as a meeting point by many students.
The square base features four heads cast in marble, four eagles and four quotes by Corridoni.
The statue is made of bronze and stands 4.50 metres tall, but the entire monument, including the porphyry step base, reaches a height of 13 metres.
