Built in the mid-1400s, Torrechiara Castle originated for defensive purposes, but today it is remembered as the fortress of the love story between Pier Maria Rossi and Bianca Pellegrini. Every room inside speaks of them, of their story, and of the castles of the Duchy that surround it in an epic and chivalrous style. The Torrechiara Castle, also known as the Fortress with the Painted Heart, is among the most significant examples of Italian castle architecture and a pride of the Province of Parma.
