San Nicola is from Parma as…The snowy Apennine ridge
The production of Prosciutto di Parma San Nicola takes place near the Tosco-Emilian Apennines National Park in the province of Parma, nestled beneath the natural backdrop of the ridge.
The territory of the Apennine ridge is a chain of peaks whose elevation varies between 1600 and 2000 m and marks the physical border between Emilia and Tuscany. Beech and chestnut forests cover most of the area, however, which holds the record of being the setting and scenario for most of Italy’s biodiversity due to the meeting of mountain and maritime climates.
Each season paints the ridge in different colors: winter has arrived and with it the sparkle of snow that covers the peaks with a mantle of fascination.
